Fishing
The sparkling waters of Georgian Bay and the famed banks of the Nottawasaga
River are an angler's paradise, with numerous species of fish at your
fingertips. In fact, you won't have to lie about the one that
got away if you cast your line in the Nottawasaga, championed for its
rainbow trout and the promise of a bountiful supply. The river also
offers excellent canoeing, with a one-day outing taking you past the
steep cliffs of Wasaga's inland sand dunes. A map offering Nottawasaga
Canoe Route information is available at the Chamber of Commerce and
the Wasaga Beach Provincial Park office.
Meanwhile, from the mouth
of the Nottawasaga, the whole of the Upper Great Lakes is yours to explore.
Listed among those fish you'll find in Georgian Bay are large and small
mouth bass, walleye, northern pike, muskie, salmon, sturgeon, crappie,
white bass, trout, yellow perch and herring. Head out alone to reel
them in, or hoop up with one of several charter captains operating on
the Bay. The Georgian Triangle Trout Derby is held annually each April,
and the Wasaga Fish & Game Club hosts its annual Rainbow Trout Derby
in October.
You won' t be disappointed!
